- 6 ladyfingers, or pieces of sponge cake
- 1 cup strawberries (sliced) or raspberries
- 1 cup of custard or vanilla pudding
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 3 tablespoons of liqueur such as amaretto
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- whipped cream (canned)
The English triffle dessert layers several flavors including fruit, pudding, and sponge cake or cookies. Serve it in a clear container or dessert glass for an elegant look.
Mix the orange juice and amaretto in a measuring cup. Break the ladyfingers in half.
Place a layer of lady fingers or sponge cake in a 9 x 9 inch clear bowl. If using a dessert glass simply put a small piece of sponge cake in the bottom of the glass. Pour the orange juice mixture over the cake.
Place a layer of pudding over the cake followed by a layer of berries.
Repeat the process with a layer of cake, pudding and berries. Then top the English triffle with whipped cream and slivered almonds.
For and extra treat, decorate with chocolate straws and a berry on top.
