This best apple pie recipe isn't just a dessert. In my house, it's a breakfast food! My love of pie is deep, and I've worked for years to create a perfect, yet easy pie crust recipe so that creating a pie on a whim is no big deal!

The best apple pie recipe is one that is uncomplicated and warms the soul with the flavors of home. Use the best ingredients, and this simple apple pie will please the most discrimiating tastes!

Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pie crusts - click here for pie crust recipe
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 7 cups green apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Heat the oven to 425 degrees. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl, and toss in the apple slices and coat them well.

Heap the apples into a pastry-lined pie pan, and dot with butter.

Use a second pie crust to cover the top and cut the excess dough from the edges of the pie pan. Pinch the edges of the two pie crusts together using your thumb or a fork to create a decorative effect. For the top, you can also cut the dough in strips and create a criss-cross pattern.

Make slits in the top of the pie with a knife to release the steam. Cover the edges of the pie crust with strips of foil to prevent the edges from over browning.

Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Remove from the oven, and allow the pie to cool before slicing.

This pie is delicious with a serving of real vanilla ice cream or real whipped cream.
